Our Story
Originating with a book drive and fair for the Horizons Program at New Canaan Country School in 2023, Bright Future Books was officially established in 2025 to expand access to books for children and teachers in underserved local communities.
In 2023, founder Michael Bria was inspired by his own early struggles learning to read and the transformative impact of having his own “home library” filled with books. As a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 70, he developed an Eagle Scout project aimed at addressing disparities in access to books among children in underserved communities. Recognizing that his own access to books played a critical role in fostering his love of reading—and inspired by the Horizons Program’s mission to close the education gap through academic and enrichment opportunities—he organized a book drive and fair benefiting Horizons at NCCS.
Following the success of his Eagle Scout project, Michael continued collecting and distributing books informally through his troop and local community. Building on this momentum, he formally established Bright Future Books in 2025 to broaden and sustain these efforts.
